Bare with me as I get used to blogging. I usually have a hard time finding the time to shower let alone time to be quiet and collect my thoughts enough to share with anyone willing to listen. So thank you in advance for your patience!
Week 1- So we started off slowly for the first meeting. Just your basic embarrassing pictures and measurements. Followed by some baseline fitness tests (how many push-ups, sit ups, squats can you do in a minute). I knew this would be a long 14 weeks when I was sore from 4 minutes of exertion.
The next evening we were off to Publix to learn about diet and nutrition. I think I was pretty cocky because I think I know how to eat and I cook all of our food. WOW this is a whole new ball game. We talked a lot about eating lots of fruits and vegetables. I was prepared for that but then Dan, our trainer, threw me a curveball...not eating processed food. No more bread, pasta, cereal, chips, etc. This is not a horrible thing once learning more about what is in all of these foods but wow it takes some getting used to.
Thursday was our first real workout. 3 minutes intervals of cardio and then squats, pushups etc. It felt good. I love haveing a goal and someone coaching me along. Maybe that goes back to the softball days but it was nice to have someone pushing you and a goal to attain.
Dan's 4 week weightloss goal for me is 8lbs. I told him 10 lbs but we will see!
Saturday we did our timed mile run. I finished in 9 minutes and 24 seconds. Again, it felt really good to workout and be tired. I think that it has been 3 and 1/2 years since I have worked out without a child with me. I think this is a big distinction. Usually, I have to tailor my workout around happiness levels of the girls, how long I think they will sit still, diaper changes, you get the picture. So, while I love my girls and running and the stadium is fun with them, I think from now on it is okay for me to have some time for myself to really work hard at my workouts. And I have to make that a priority.
Goals - not to burn out but still get an effective workout in everyday if I can. That may mean piles of laundry to step over for my family but I am going to have to be okay with that!
Stick to the menu! It is good food and statisfying...I don't need to feel like I am missing out. It is good for me!
Thanks for all of the support. You guys are making this possible for me.
Here Goes Nothing!
So welcome as I embark on this crazy 14 weeks of rediscovering me. It is supposed to be a weightloss challenge, a new way of looking at how I treat my body - what goes into it and what I do with it. I will keep you posted on anything and everything-my progress, frustrations, maybe even new recipes I am trying. Most of all I plan to have fun!
Thanks to Giggle Magazine and SweatLife Fitness for giving me this opportunity to change my life!

How I Got Here
Ok...so I am not the most overweight person you have ever met. But it all starts somewhere, right?
I think I am pretty typical... I like to workout. I am even pretty competitive. I have done sports all my life and enjoyed it. But it was always a priority. In high school I played sports. Softball was a job to me. I did it at least 3 hours a day 6 times a week. College- I vowed not to gain the freshman 15 and I didn't. Heck I was a size 6 sometimes 4. Working out every day was just part of being in college. Call stress relief, a procrastination tool - whatever. I just did it.
Then I got the double whammy-marriage and my first job. It wasn't too bad. My husband and I like to workout together so when we had the time we ran or went to the stadium. But I love to cook and I felt like it was my personal job to feed my husband at every opportunity. Plus now a I sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day. It wasn't bad but slowly the pounds crept on.
Kids...I should have known. I have always had to workout to keep in good shape. I have never been just "naturally" skinny. So why oh why did I think that I could eat whatever I wanted (and I do mean whatever) when I was pregnant. Child 1 - added pounds Child 2 added pounds
Now I am home with these children that I love but now I have NO time for working out. and the pounds add on. Unfortunately it just not the priority that it was. If something in the day has to go...it is my time to workout. Not to mention that it just feels hopeless. Where do you start?
Well I start here. Jan 3rd here I come!
